High influence.
Limited visibility.
Education agents play a critical role in helping international students navigate their study options, applications and transition to a new country.
Yet institutions often have limited independent visibility into the quality of advice students receive, the expectations being set and how well those expectations align with students' actual experiences.
At the same time, expectations around transparency, accountability and ethical recruitment are increasing. Institutions need reliable evidence to understand agent performance, identify emerging risks and demonstrate effective oversight.
Student feedback is a critical, but often missing, piece of the education agent governance puzzle.
miXagent has been developed to help close this gap.
INTRODUCING MIXAGENT
Turning student experience into evidence for better agent governance.
miXagent is a standardised student survey and comparative insights platform designed to evaluate the agent-supported recruitment journey, from initial research and application through to arrival, enrolment and early student experience.
By capturing feedback directly from students who have used education agents, miXagent helps institutions understand and improve five critical areas.
01 · Understand agent quality
Evaluate the accuracy, clarity and usefulness of advice and support provided to students.
02 · Measure expectation alignment
Identify gaps between what students were told to expect and what they actually experience.
03 · Identify emerging risks
Surface potential misinformation, poor practices, financial vulnerability and other early warning signals.
04 · Benchmark performance
Develop comparative insights across agents, markets and participating institutions as the benchmark grows.
05 · Strengthen governance
Generate independent evidence to inform agent selection, performance reviews, due diligence and continuous improvement.
WORKING TOGETHER
A shared approach to evidence, accountability and continuous improvement.
miXagent builds on existing sector research and initiatives to strengthen education agent quality and governance. Its development has been informed by consultation with education institutions and industry experts, including our Advisory Council and individuals involved in the International Education Association of Australia's (IEAA) Agent Quality Research Project and Steering Committee.
Working in partnership with participating institutions, we're establishing a consistent and scalable approach to understanding agent-supported student experiences.
Participating institutions help refine the survey framework and integrate it into existing student engagement processes. miXabroad manages survey delivery, data collection, analysis and reporting, minimising the administrative burden on institutions.
One shared evidence base. Three levels of impact.
For institutions
Strengthen agent oversight, identify opportunities for improvement and make more informed decisions.
For education agents
Better understand the student experience delivered, recognise strong performance and identify areas for improvement.
For the sector
Develop a clearer, evidence-based understanding of education agent quality and good practice.
miXagent complements existing governance and quality assurance frameworks, adding an independent student perspective to institutional decision-making.

Why student voice matters
Tim Field
Director, International
The University of Sydney
"Strong agent partnerships are built on trust, shared expectations and a commitment to student success. We know many agents are delivering exceptional experiences, and we want to be able to recognise and learn from that.
miXagent gives us an opportunity to hear directly from students about what matters most to them, understand where our partnerships are working well and identify opportunities to make the journey even better. Having access to comparable insights across institutions will also help us lift standards collectively, rather than working in isolation."
Danielle Hartridge
Co-Founder and Principal, IES Advisory
miXagent Advisory Council
"We cannot genuinely claim to put students at the centre of international education if we are not actively listening to what they tell us. The student voice should not be an afterthought in education agent governance; it should be one of its foundations. miXagent offers an exciting opportunity to make student experience a measurable and meaningful part of how we evaluate quality, accountability and good practice across the sector."
Jon Chew
Chief Insights Officer
Navitas
"Our education agent partners play an incredibly important role in supporting students, often long before they arrive on campus. The advice, guidance and reassurance they provide can have a lasting impact on a student's confidence and experience.
We're excited about the opportunity miXagent provides to better understand those experiences, celebrate the great work happening across our agent network, and work collaboratively with our partners to identify and share best practice. Ultimately, this is about ensuring every student receives the quality advice and support they deserve."
